Pre-School, Kindergarten & Childcare Workshops

Workshops run by Super Mande Percussion – African Drumming Academy & Performance cater for all types of early learning environments, from childcare and playgroups through to pre-schools, kinders and more. 

African drumming workshops provide an interactive, energy-filled, fun and inclusive experience for young children, allowing individual expression to develop with new ideas and ways to communicate.

Whether you are looking for a stand alone session, or a series of workshops enabling children to progress their skills over time, we can develop an African drumming workshop or program to suit your needs.

Kindergarten / pre-school drumming and dance workshop

Several types of workshop are offered through Super Mande Percussion – African Drumming Academy & Performance, covering various aspects of West African music, culture, drumming and dance. 

The format of drumming workshops generally covers:

  • Welcome and demonstration.
  • Familiarisation with the instruments and warm up exercises.
  • Interactive session where children learn the basics of African drumming and how to find their rhythm.
  • Opportunity for children to improvise and express their own rhythmic ideas.
  • Time for questions and answers about West African drumming and culture.

 

Pre-school kids drumming workshop

 

The duration of the drumming workshops is typically around 30 to 45 minutes and can also be tailored to fit in with your program, taking into consideration:

  • Different age groups, which can range from tiny tots (1 year old) through to pre-school (3-4 year old) levels and beyond.
  • Group size, which can range from small groups of 10-30 children, up to 100 participants or more.

Super Mande Percussion – African Drumming Academy & Performance workshops also include other activities like African singing, African dance, body percussion, and a variety of other percussion instruments from West Africa.
