Immersed in Music

West African drumming workshop for kids school holiday program

Looking for a fun and educational activity for your kids during the school holidays? Look no further! Super Mande Percussion is hosting a free African drumming workshop at Miller's Homestead in Boronia on Friday, 12th July. This exciting event is part of the 'Immersed in Music' month of performances, sponsored by Knox City Council.

What can kids expect at the workshop?

At the workshop, kids will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich rhythms and beats of West African music. They will learn about the different types of drums used in African percussion ensembles, and have the opportunity to connect with other music loving kids through the cultural tradition of West African drumming.  A djembe drum (hand drum) will be available to each child for the session.

Why is African drumming beneficial for kids?

Studies have shown that learning to play a musical instrument, such as the drums, can have numerous benefits for children. It can improve their cognitive skills, enhance their coordination, and boost their confidence. African drumming, in particular, can help kids develop a sense of rhythm and timing, as well as an appreciation for different cultures.

How can you sign up your kids for the workshop?

To register your child for the African drumming workshop, simply visit the Miller's Homestead website via the booking link below:
